Alejandra Gómez Vásquez

“Open eye open hearth, soul in a machine, this is my language”.

Alejandra Gómez (1984) is an artist based in Paris. Her work is based on her fascination for human beings and their relationship with nature. She captures the world through the physical and emotional sensations. She works with photography and moving images. Her work explores colour, shapes, posture, rhythm, time flow. She questions memory, which acts as a collector of life experience.

Her personal projects are inspired by her dreams, her life's traumas, and travels. Her photographs translate mental images where fiction confronts reality.

She studied music and commercial photography in Medellín-Colombia. At the age of 20 she moved to London to learn English. She then moved to Paris where she studied photography, fine arts and contemporary art at Paris 8 university. These experience and regular travels form her aesthetic culture and sharpen her eye constantly.

She continues to develop her own artistic exploration while working for individuals as well as the corporate, documentary and fashion fields.
